Day 80

It's been a while since I have updated on my healthy eating lifestyle. It has now been 80 days and I am proud to say I have stuck to it. I worried a bit while on vacation in Florida, but I was able to enjoy myself with out over indulging. I admit that since that vacation I have not been as strict about counting my calories and I should probably get back to being more number conscious. I know from doing weight watchers with the point system that I start 'guessing' or underestimating my points and then the whole system goes out the window. I need to keep that in mind and maybe go back to 3 weeks or month of recording my calories each day. However, I still know I am consuming a lot less then I need to just to lose a pound a week, so I should still be losing.

My hope is that I have lost at least 25 pounds so far. I do not own a scale and I will have no way of knowing just how much I have lost until I go back for a regular dr. visit which might not be until August. I thought I needed to go back in 6 months, but it's not until a year. There are pro's and cons to not weighing myself regularly. The pluses are that I don't get hung up on the numbers and I don't feel I am battling against the scale. It's not a huge accomplishment to step on the scale and see you lost 5, 10 or even 15 pounds over the course of two or 3 months when you have to lose as much as I do. It is much more satisfying to get on the scale and see that you have lost 25+ pounds since the last time you weighed yourself. It's much more encouraging to me to see the big numbers. Like much to do with weight loss (and gain), it's a mental game. The minus would be not knowing if what you are doing is working. If I wait until August to weigh myself and am hoping for a big loss only to find out I have lost only half of what I was expecting, then I have wasted a lot of months not doing what I could have in order to lose more. For me, the pros outweigh the cons so for now I am sticking to what I am doing. I doubt I can hold out until August to check my weight, but for now I am fine not knowing.

I stuck to my "plan" for a month and only lost 5 pounds but a lot of inches. We are going grocery shopping tonight and I'm going to stock up on the things I was eating before. It wasn't dieting....just healthy eating. Anytime you want to go walking during the day....give me a jingle! =)
